My major interests are: 
  • 'Agriculture and the CAP' - its effects on the wider countryside.
  • The Burren.
  • Techniques for retaining biodiversity in semi-natural grasslands.
  • Vegetational classification & faunal assemblages as monitors of environmental change.
  • The horticultural utilization of organic wastes.
I am involved in research on:
The multivariate analysis of:
  • Lepidopteran assemblages, and their use as as environmental monitors.
  • Molluscan assemblages and their palaeoenvironmental relevance.
  • A classification of marine algal assemblages in S. Wales, 'do they form recognizable and classifiable communities'. 
    • Some vegetation surveying for the WWT
    • Surveying the ‘Wiltshire Cotswold grasslands of conservation interest’.

    General Information
    • I am married to Sarah, and we have just become parents to Megan, our little daughter.
    • I hate frames on web pages!
    • Any computer language I become proficient in is immediately obsolete.
    • I am a keen sportsman, playing Cricket for Bathford in the Wiltshire League
    • I am an (in)active member of the Alpine Garden Society, Bath Natural History Society, Avon and Wiltshire Wildlife Trusts and an (ir)regular lecturer on the ‘environmentally friendly’ garden.
