FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TUESDAY 12 JULY 2011
Commenting on The University and Colleges Employer's Association's (UCEA) final offer of a one-off £150 payment, UNISON's Senior National Officer for Education, Jon Richards said:
"This pay offer falls well short of what our members need to survive."
"This will be the third year of insignificant, below inflation, pay in higher education and will hit hardworking staff struggling to cope with the rising cost of living and everyday essentials."
"We will join other higher education unions in further consultation."
UNISON has 50,000 members who work in HE institutions in all jobs including: registrars, librarians, personnel, technicians, academics, administrators, clerks, secretaries, cleaners, craftworkers, catering staff, porters and people working in IT, finance and estates management.
