Sometimes you may feel as though roads are for people in cars and nothing else. They're actually a shared space, but often dominated by 'powered' vehicles. Locally, the transport emphasis tends to be towards 'Unreconstructed' roads of 1970's design, built to cater for fast vehicles. Newer roads emphasise different uses, and here's links to more cycling and other transport information on this.
