June Bianchi: canvases, images & lightboxes June Bianchi's images - canvases, lightboxes and prints, express her fascination with the ways in which human beings express identity through the construction of their bodies and physical appearance. Through developing, changing and enhancing bodily shape and size, by physical manipulation and adornment through clothing, jewellery, hair styling and make-up, people across cultures, signal to the world vital messages about gender, sexuality, and personal and social identity. The construction of visual image can be a means to communicate both individual identity and group affiliations – social, cultural and political. This has been the ongoing theme of June's art practice, developed through installations and individual images; in most cases, figures are life sized.
