Angela's Andean Adventures.

Peru and Bolivia 2001.

Musicians from Puno
Musicians from Puno

Introduction.

On 11th June 2001 I finally achieved my ambition since first hearing Andean music almost two years previously. I set off for a seven week holiday in Peru, a holiday I had been planning for, saving for and looking forward to for the past fourteen months.

On the left you will find the 16 parts of the story of that adventure along with some photos. Also coming shortly is a separate section with more photographs taken throughout the seven weeks. On the homepage you will also see a small article of someone else’s impressions of Cusco and Machu Picchu, which I wish I had seen before going there myself! The staff at San Pedro Station in Cusco don’t encourage tourists to travel by the Indian train - that is definitely an experience to sample on my next visit which will hopefully either be in Summer 2002 or February 2003 - the latter is a good time to visit Bolivia, when all the top bands who normally reside in Europe during our summer, go home for Christmas until the European spring.

Russell Chamberlain Takes the Indian Train to the "Lost City of the Incas"

"It is always interesting to read someone else's impressions of Cusco and Machu Picchu and the following article is copied for that reason as hopefully it will be of interest to you too I wish I had seen this article before visiting Machu Picchu and realised the possibility of travelling on the Indian train!"  [Angela]
